In the previous blog, I discussed a strategy that improves your chances of winning even if you don’t feel or play well that given day. If you haven’t read it yet, then check it out here.
In this blog, I am sharing the 2 reasons why you play below your potential at any given moment. Usually, it seems like a mystery but it’s not hard if you understand the mechanics of the correlation between mind and body.
Performance = (Current) Potential – (Mental) Interference.
This is the formula that Tim Gallwey shares in his well-known tennis book: The Inner Game of Tennis (I highly recommend it).
If you can get rid of mental interference, then you have a much higher chance to play your best tennis. So what is this mental interference?
After working with mental coaches, studying the mind, and helping tennis players, these are the two biggest causes that make tennis players play worse:
-
Fear
-
Lack of Confidence
Once you experience fear, the blood will flow to the larger muscles in your body and you lose touch and timing which are critical to executing at den här fantastiska artikeln från maskulinum.se på köpa testosteron för. You flex unnecessary muscles that tense up and you lose accuracy. Besides playing worse, you also feel worse. I can go on about the disadvantages of fear but you get the point.
Actions
A simple way to lower fear is to become aware of what you’re afraid of. In our head, we have a tendency to make things like losing much worse than it actually is. Once you are aware of the fear, you must come to a realization that the worst thing that can happen is not that bad.
This is a powerful strategy when you deal with fear in the moment so take advantage of it!
However, if you are tired of feeling tight or playing bad in matches and you want to get rid of fear so it doesn’t even show up in matches, then I suggest working with a professional. Book a call with me here if you want to be fearless and play better in matches.
