My name is Nathan de Veer and I’m from the Netherlands. As an expert in mindset and peak performance, I have specialized in helping tennis players go from playing average and tight to playing their best and freely in matches. I also guide them with these principles off court to set them up for long term success. To find out more, please visit this page

Just a little back story… When I was younger, I used to struggle a lot with my mindset. During juniors and college tennis, I choked, played inconsistent, and worse in tennis matches compared to practice. I felt frustrated and disappointed because I knew I had more within. It got to a point where I was so nervous that I even had to throw up and hyperventilate in matches. After trying breathing methods, positive self-talk, and reading books on mindset, nothing helped (much).

In my (4th) senior year of D1 college tennis, I decided to work with a mental coach remotely and that’s when things radically changed for me. I suddenly felt more confident, able to focus better, and I won more. I started to understand why the other mental tools didn’t work but more importantly, what did work.

Here you can see my results in the table below. I moved up in the line-up from #4 to #1 and started to win more matches against better tennis players after being stuck at the same level for years:

I had a confidence boost once I knew that I was able and capable to get rid of my pressure, doubts, and frustrations (even after many failed attempts). When I realized that there was much more possible, I went on a mission to learn everything about mindset, psychology, and performance. I found out that most tools in traditional sports psychology such as breathing exercises, rituals, and positive affirmations are outdated. They do not create big and lasting transformations because the mind is still wired the same way. It’s helpful to have tools when frustrations or nerves come up, but you must learn to go deeper so they show up less in the first place.

That’s why I took a different route. After finishing VWO in Amsterdam, a Business Bachelors Degree in Chicago, I invested in workshops and coaching from the world’s best mindset and performance coaches like Tony Robbins, Peter Sage, and many others who worked with Olympic athletes and the best tennis players in the world. A completely new world opened up to me and I share many insights I’ve learned for free on my website’s blog, Instagram, or Facebook. I continue to educate and work on myself as a person and coach so can create faster and bigger transformations for the people who work with me.

Studies show that there has never been a time where so many athletes struggle with pressure, anxiety, negative emotions, stress, etc. in sports and life. Many of them think it’s weak, feel uncomfortable talking about their feelings or to ask for help. That’s why my aim is to create a space where tennis players can be vulnerable and open up. That is required to let these emotions go.

What motivates me is to be that coach for someone that I wish I had when I was younger so they don’t have to struggle as I did. What makes my day is receiving positive feedback from players and parents when they are excited to share how they are feeling more free and playing better in matches.
